Blocked Drains

Blocked Drains Grafton

Finding out you’ve got a blocked drain is a real pain and something that needs to be sorted as soon as possible. That’s where we come in. At Tony Brown Plumbing, we’ve been serving the local community for over 20 years, which means we’ve come across a fair few blocked drains in Grafton and the surrounding areas.

Common causes of blocked drains

Various things can cause blocked drains. Fat deposits can clump together to form notorious fatbergs, foreign objects like sanitary products or wipes can lead to blockages, and even seemingly innocuous stuff like hair and soap can cause trouble if not dealt with swiftly. We also see problems caused by stray tree roots, but our specialist team have all the latest equipment to help you deal with this tricky problem.

Can I fix it myself?

Your first thought might be to grab the Draino and get going with the plunger, but we’d advise you talk to us first. Many commercial drain unblockers can be too harsh for regular use, and if you’ve a more serious issue, you could end up doing more harm than good. It’s easier to do it right the first time than get the boys in to fix a botched job.

What to do while waiting for a plumber

The main thing to do while you're waiting for a plumber is to minimise any further damage. First, turn off your water supply and mop up any excess water. Then move any water damaged objects away from the area so they can dry out. Remember, the water may be contaminated, so wear rubber gloves and keep kids and pets well away from the scene.

Why choose Tony Brown plumbers?

Tony Brown Plumbing has over 20 years experience. We understand how to fix your drains, and perhaps more importantly, we understand how upsetting blocked drains can be. We'll respond as quickly as possible to help minimise the damage, and take time and care to deliver a solution that offers a long term fix.

At Tony Brown Plumbing, there are a number of things we will do to fix your blocked drains:

1. Identify the problem

We use special drain cameras to see what’s causing the problem, so we know how best to fix it.

2. Choose our equipment

We often use hydro jets, which are powerful jets of water that can even clear tree roots. Other methods include using something called an electric eel, which is a long steel rod with powerful blades to slice through roots and debris.

3. Offer advice on how to avoid the problem in the future

Simple steps like using a hair trap or making sure everyone knows what does and doesn't go down the drain can save a lot of heartache.

If you have any other questions or want to arrange a no obligation estimate, contact us today. We always recommend you get three quotes and remember, be just as cautious with a very cheap quote as you are with an expensive one. As well as price, it’s important you feel confident in the person you’re employing to do the job. All our team members have the necessary NSW certifications to show they can carry out the work with skill and precision.
